Gwar Al Safi- Jordan
The traditional Bedouin village of GAWR AL SAFI is located on the eastern side of the southern Dead Sea. During my visit in April, the temperature was already hot, about 30 degrees celcius. At that time there was a girls soccer tournament. It's already hot and the girls were playing soccer in their traditional village. The new soccer field was built by UNESCO, which is very impressive and high quality, like an oasis, but with synthetic grass. There were two teams on the field, one of the soccer teams was from the East (Amman). The players stood dressed modestly with their heads and arms covered, while the other team was from the West. It was surprising to see the villagers watching girls play. No matter who scored, the interplay between East and West and traditional and modern wove a new reality of human connection.
